Who to believe?
I'm still in shock after hearing about the letter from Mr. Darcy. It's difficult to doubt Wickham's good nature, but even more so to question Darcy's. I want my opinion of both men to be positive; however, I'm finding it difficult to maintain one without losing the other. I advised Lizzy not to ruin Wickham's honor by revealing the truth. He can't deserve that kind of punishment.

Jane, you are always so good natured. I don't understand how you can keep a good opinion about anyone after seeing all the evil of the world, but do not change, you have always had the best of qualities. If you believe I should hold my tongue about Wickham, I shall, but if he gives me a reason to reevaluate this decision, I shall not think twice. Hope all is well with you, and I can hardly wait to see you soon!

ReplyDeleteI know you may not have the best feelings toward me, but I want to let you know that you can trust Mr. Darcy. He is a good natured man that would not lie to you. He has told me about that disgrace of a man named Wickham. He should not be trusted. Put faith in Darcy and please tell your sister to do the same.
